6 Months of Thrice Upon a Dream!

Today is a very special day for me because it marks the six month anniversary of Thrice Upon a Dream! So I thought I’d take you on a journey from the blog’s creation to where we are today and what I’m looking forward to in the future!

One of the most frequent questions a blogger gets asked is why did you start a blog? For me, the answer was quite simple.

At the time I was planning my family’s first trip together to Disneyland Paris. I’d been as a child. I’d been as an adult. But it was my first time going to Disneyland Paris as an adult responsible for a child. There’s a wealth of planning information available to guests but you need to be prepared to bounce around the internet to access it. I filled several notebooks before realising that all of those helpful tips and tricks should be more accessible and in a more entertaining way. So that’s what I planned to do and I intended to launch in January 2020.

Since we’re here and six months in, you already know that I didn’t wait until January 2020. I jumped straight into creating content, mainly sharing our family’s life experiences with the odd Disney post here and there.

I’ve blogged before but never managed to make it past the four month mark. Why? Because content is king but a king needs a heart. If your heart isn't in it, that king is going to abdicate its throne pretty damn quickly. And I was that king, struggling to commit to a niche that I wasn’t passionate about.

But this time was different. Thrice Upon a Dream was more than just a hobby blog. It was my passion project. It was a creative outlet and it helped me find an identity beyond just being Mini’s mum.

So where are we now and what do I envision for the future?

I try to regularly review where I’m at and where I’m going so the blog is currently undergoing a bit of a refresh. It’s mainly aesthetics but I’ve also been converting some of my older posts into fresh content that’s a bit more digestible. I think we all know that I can be a little bit wordy.

What I’ve recently focused on is my overall mission and what kind of content I put out. I realised that going forward I want to stick to four key areas; family life, family travel, Disney and chronic illness.

I’ve been posting about family life and Disney since the very beginning but with some grand adventures in our near future, I really wanted to embrace the family travel aspect and see the blog’s initial dream come to life. Talking about chronic illness might feel like a dark topic to have on the side but it’s really difficult not to talk about something that affects every aspect of your life including the ability to create. It’s part of my life and therefore needs to be part of the content too.

As for upcoming content for the rest of 2019, you can expect to see more countdown and planning posts, some spooky posts for Halloween, a series of posts about our short break at Chessington World of Adventures and I’m hoping to participate in Blogmas this year! Then in January, I’ll start rolling out the Disneyland Paris content.

Before I go, here are five of my most popular blog posts over the last six months!

So there you have it, six months of Thrice Upon a Dream and it all started with a mouse. Madness. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me, contributed towards posts, read, commented on or shared my content… you guys are absolutely fantastic! Here’s to the next six months!

If you've got a few minutes to spare, I'd absolutely love it if you would check out one of my most popular blog posts if you haven't already read them.

  1. First, congrats on hitting the 6 month mark! Blogging is so fun but it can be so time-consuming and overwheliming. So, I applaud you for consistently blogging. I have been blogging for about 8 months now so I completely understand the excitement of achieving every milestone.

Second, I have read a few of your posts and I love your style of writing. You're pretty rad, too! ;) I will def be checking out your stationery haul post right after this!

    Much love always,
