In Defence of Childless Millennials at Disney

Over the last week or so, an old viral Facebook post resurfaced and attracted a significant amount of media attention with many news outlets jumping on the bandwagon to offer up their opinion. Since I do blog about Disney a fair amount anyway, I decided to share my own opinion on the whole child-free at Disney debate.

Stress-Free Guide to Festive Planning

Say the word 'Christmas' outside of December and it really divides people. In fact, a few weeks back I started talking about Christmas on my Twitter account and I lost a dozen followers in the same hour. Coincidence? I don't think so. But to hell with the naysayers and Scrooges of the world, I love Christmas and I'm going to talk about it right now.

The Labyrinth of the Spirits by Carlos Ruiz Zafón: A Review

I've been fairly busy recently but don't think that I've been neglecting my summer reading challenge because that is far from the truth. In fact, I'm actually building up a bit of a backlog of books to review.

This one, The Labyrinth of the Spirits by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, was especially meaningful for me. I have absolutely adored the Cemetery of Forgotten Books series, and everything else that Carlos Ruiz Zafón has put out, since I first read The Shadow of the Wind a few years back. As the final chapter in the series, this was always going to be a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me and I was definitely not disappointed.

Stationery Haul: May + June 2019

If you had met me in my early to mid-twenties, you would probably have described me as a bit of a "stationery hoarder". I couldn't go past a Paperchase store without venturing inside and coming out armed to the teeth with the funkiest new stationery items. But the saddest truth was that I'd buy these incredible items and then never use them. They would just sit there looking beautiful until I'd have a massive decluttering session and ship them off to the nearest charity shop in the hope that they would get a second chance to live out their true purpose.

Around two years ago, I just stopped buying stationery. I became a pro at resisting temptation and I even waved goodbye to my ridiculous collection of novelty sticky notes.

Then I started Thrice Upon a Dream.

If you create content for the internet, you're probably aware of how much stationery gets used on a daily basis. There's always something to jot down or you'll need to flick through your notes to find something you pencilled in a few weeks back. It becomes an essential part of your everyday life.

Since I blog while I'm also taking care of my toddler son, it was crucial that I grab a few items to help keep me organised amidst all the chaos. So without any more faff, here is my recent stationery haul.

Side note: It's been a while since I bought many of these items (and I didn't keep the receipts - doh!) so I've included prices whenever I could be 100% certain of how much they cost.

World Emoji Day 2019: Emoji Cupcakes and More!

Did you know that the emoji is almost 22 years old? I had no idea! Obviously we haven't been blessed with the emoji for twenty odd years but it existed and has grown into the phenomenon that we use in our everyday lives. If that isn't incentive to keep going, I don't know what is. I mean if a yellow smiley face can achieve such great things then why can't we all?

Today is World Emoji Day. Why, you ask? Well it's all to do with that date on the calendar emojis on Apple devices. You might not have ever noticed (I certainly haven't) but that date is July 17th! So every July 17th, we now celebrate the wonderful world of emojis!

This blog post is obviously very different to anything I've done before but I wanted to give my creative muscles the opportunity to shine through without days and days of editing and I wanted to have some fun. So today I'll be sharing which emojis I use the most, which emoji I am and my attempts at recreating emoji faces on cupcakes!

The Teddy Bear Picnic

Last Wednesday was *drum roll* Teddy Bear Picnic Day and since we were all at home together, we'd planned to take full advantage of the festivities and throw a spectacular indoor picnic for Mini and his soft toy pals.

Premier Inn London Heathrow Airport Terminal 4: A Review

You might not remember but several weeks back we spent a weekend in London to visit our families. As we were spending time with Matt's family on the Saturday and mine on the Sunday, we decided to stay roughly halfway between the two so we booked a room at the Premier Inn London Heathrow Airport Terminal 4. It goes without saying really based on the hotel's name but this is a hotel near London Heathrow Airport. It's so close it's basically part of the airport.

I'm a little bit obsessed with hotel and room tour videos so I decided there'd be some value in doing a little hotel review and sharing our experience with you all.

I'd planned to do a little video to accompany this post but it turns out that it's not that easy to wheel around a pushchair, open a heavy fire door and film at the same time. The room was then quickly taken over by a nude toddler so any hope of filming went out the window but it's okay, I tried.

Why We Chose To Find Out The Sex Of Our Baby

Sometimes I flash back to certain moments during my pregnancy with Mini especially in the run up to anniversaries of certain events. I'd like to share one of those with you right now.

It was an absolutely beautiful afternoon in mid-July. Sunny and warm but not unbearably hot. Bearing in mind that I was walking around in vests in the cold of November, complaining that it was "unbearably hot" - what a difference a few months makes!

Matt and I walked up to the hospital for our 20 week scan. This was a very important day for us because we were hopefully going to find out whether we were expecting a boy or a girl. Finding out the sex was really important to me and so I'd like to talk about why we chose to find out.

It's a question every expectant parent gets asked a thousand times: do you want to know what you're having?

For us, the answer was always a resounding yes.

In case you haven't looked at a calendar today, it's the 10th of July! Yay!

You might already know that today is a very special day because it's Teddy Bear Picnic Day. To celebrate, we enjoyed a yummy picnic in our living room surrounded by some of our nearest and dearest soft toys - but I digress because that's not in any way related to today's post!

Our Wedding: 4 Months To Go!

I've got a huge confession to make: up until recently, I was a bit of a 'bridechilla'. I took a very laid-back approach to wedding planning.

But alas, that's starting to change because our wedding is suddenly only four months away! Eek!

Since I've not shared anything about our wedding yet, I thought that I'd do a little post to share what we've got sorted and talk about the million and one things we've got left on our wedding to-do list.

A Whole New World by Liz Braswell: A Review

Summer is well and truly underway as is my summer reading challenge!

The third book I finished was...

As is the case with 99% of the books I own, I actually bought this years ago and have let it lay dormant ever since. But no longer because I have finally finished reading it and with that, I present to you: my book review of A Whole New World.

We Bought a Pirate Ship!

Every pay day, we each get a little something that we want. For Matt, it was a Raspberry Pi. For me, a pair of maternity skinny jeans. (I'm not pregnant but maternity clothing is the most comfortable for handling those endometriosis flare ups!) Oh, and we bought Mini a pirate ship.
