May Review + June Goals

If you pick up any book about personal development, I guarantee you'll find something about setting goals. Even though I've had SMART goals and Personal Development Plans (PDPs) forced upon me for most of my life, I never really took the time to actually appreciate them. I'm still a total newbie when it comes to setting myself goals and so it won't come as a shock to anyone that this is my first ever goal-setting post.

"By recording your dreams and goals on paper, you set in motion the process of becoming the person you most want to be. Put your future in good hands - your own."
~ Mark Victor Hansen

Last month, the goals that I'd set for myself were what I'd call "follower-centric". It was all quantifiable. I wanted to see a steady increase in followers and generally speaking, I did. But what I've come to realise is that the numbers aren't that important.

If you write or vlog or create pretty much anything in this world, you'll already know that what you bring to the table is more important than how many people come to eat it. Quality over quantity.

With that in mind, I do want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported Thrice Upon a Dream in any way over the last few weeks. You have been instrumental in pushing the growth of my tiny little blog from monthly views of 15 (not a joke) to almost 400! Knowing that people are actually reading my posts is what motivates me so thank you all so much.

So without further ado, let's look at this month's goals!

Blog Goals

More lifestyle posts

Don't get me wrong, I love sharing Disney posts but it's very niche and sometimes there's just no spark - especially when I haven't been to a park since 2016!

Allowing myself to release more lifestyle content will help keep my content fresh and my ideas flowing so hopefully this will be a positive step.

3-4 posts per week

Having already planned out my content for the rest of 2019, albeit very loosely, I can already see that I've got a lot of work ahead of me and I'm hoping to be able to maintain the pace.

Learn more about SEO

To be honest, I have spent the good part of the last decade learning about SEO on and off and I'm still super confused by it.

There's a basic knowledge but I really need to work on this and start utilising it better on both the blog and our social media accounts.

Even though I've been using Pinterest for years, I've been really struggling to get the gist of it from a content creator's perspective.

I'm determined to suss it out this month and maybe even bring you some boards so watch this space.

Personal Goals

Lose half a stone

My weight has been an issue for a while now and with our wedding and my laparoscopy on the horizon, it really needs much more attention.

I have found that exercising more and maintaining a calorie deficit diet is the best way for me to lose weight so this will be my plan of action.

If I can lose as close to half a stone as possible this month then I'd be really happy with my progress.

Spend more time playing with Mini

At present, I don't feel like I manage my time well enough to efficiently balance being a stay at home mum and a blogger. The downside to this is that I don't get to spend as much time playing with my son, completely in the moment, as I'd like to.

From now on, I'll be blocking out huge chunks of my day and completely switching off to spend quality time with Mini.

Walk 5000 steps a day

As I'm mostly at home, I often struggle to get more than 2000 steps a day. An increase in mobility is essential for achieving my weight loss targets so I'm going to start with a goal of 5000 daily steps.

Since my Fitbit has been dead and therefore I haven't been able to track this, this goal will start today instead of the 1st.
