June Favourites

Can you believe that June is over already? Or even that we're halfway through the year? Time is flying by! As another month closes the door, it's time to bring you my monthly favourites.

This month, I finally got to watch Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald after being desperate to see it since its release.

Fun fact: Newt Scamander is my absolute favourite character from the Wizarding World!

If I'm being honest, it's super rare for Matt and I to find the time to watch films largely because our time is centred around Mini and by the time he goes to bed, we're both too exhausted to concentrate on a film.

It took us twelve days to watch it and in that time, we must have watched the first scene at least four times.

I really enjoyed watching The Crimes of Grindelwald but will confess that it just didn't hook me in the same way as the original. Again, maybe it was just because we had to keep stopping and starting rather than watching it in one sitting.

All the same, I'm really looking forward to the next movie after that huge revelation at the end. Wow.

Alright, let's talk about vlogs!

There's been a real influx of outstanding content this month which has made it quite challenging to pick just one channel to focus on so I'm actually doing a post on my favourite Disney vloggers and that'll be out in a few weeks time!

As for my faves this month, I'm going to choose That UK Disney Couple because it really felt like they whisked us all away with them to Orlando. From their live stream at the airport where they kept us viewers guessing to the reveal of their mystery destination as they boarded their flight and of course, an insane queue to ride Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure on its opening day. It has been a real pleasure to watch.

Make sure you head on over to That UK Disney Couple's YouTube channel to watch the latest videos!

I'm going to start by talking about the Jonas Brothers who are, admittedly, my favourite set of brothers after my own.

Their incredible new album, Happiness Begins, came out earlier this month and it is everything a JoBros fangirl could have ever hoped for.

I'll admit that I was kind of expecting the album to be filled with high energy pop anthems based on Sucker. It did initially put me off a little bit but what I discovered was that Happiness Begins is actually pretty chill.

Happiness Begins is the perfect album to enjoy on a beautiful sunny day with the luscious sea breeze blowing on your face. It has that kind of vibe to it which I love.

Now I haven't listened to it enough to have a favourite song yet but I think it's a solid album in its entirety which I don't say often.

On a different note, this month I decided to start listening to podcasts again.

In the past, I've veered towards the likes of Serial and Criminal but this time I fancied listening to something lighthearted so I did some research and came across How Did This Get Made?

Since Matt and I recently watched Speed 2: Cruise Control, I decided to begin my podcast journey here and I was not disappointed. It had me in fits of laughter and honestly, I just loved it so much.

If anything, I now want to rewatch Speed 2 with the podcast in mind so I can laugh at all the little things that were discussed all over again.

I highly recommend checking it out if like me, you also like watching films and then laughing at how bad they are.

You might have noticed that I recently started a Summer Reading Challenge which I've reallt gotten into. My aim was to read two books per month and I'm already smashing that target, having already read four books at the time of writing this.

I'm actually struggling to decide on one ultimate favourite of these four so I'm going to choose two; one fiction and one non-fiction.

First up is my non-fiction favourite: Leave Your Mark by Aliza Licht.

I highly recommend checking out this career development book. Not only is it filled to the brim with amazing career advice, it feels like a conversation between friends which makes it super easy to digest.

For my fiction favourite, I have chosen The Labyrinth of Spirits by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

I won't go into too much detail here because you can always check out my review if you're interested but what I will say is that The Cemetery of Forgotten Books series will hold a very special place in my heart for years to come. Reading the final book was truly bittersweet as I will miss the Sempere family and their associates as if they were my own.

This month I've put much more effort into reading other people's content and wow, is there a lot of great posts out there at the moment?!

Here are a handful of my favourite posts that I've read this month for you to enjoy!

I'm going to keep this short and sweet: Subway's new Cheesy Garlic Bread Meatball Marinara sub. It was divine.

I'd also like to give a shout out to Kinder Bueno ice cream cones for being super delicious. They are my go-to in this heat!

And don't think I've forgotten about you, hazelnut cannoli. You absolute goddess.

This is why I don't lose weight.

Truthfully, the one thing that I've enjoyed doing the most this month is reading.

I know that must sound like a massive cop-out when I talk about reading in my monthly favourites post every month anyway but it's true. My reading challenge has genuinely motivated me to read more and it is refreshing.

This month I have thrown myself right in at the deep end. Not just reading books but also reading different types of magazines on the Readly app and taking as many opportunities as possible to read other people's blog posts.

It's not only a great way to escape reality for a bit, reading has many benefits including improving your memory and relieving stress. What's not to love?!

If you've enjoyed today's post, why not check out my May Favourites post for even more things that I love!
