May Favourites

Wow, May has been chaotic.

Earlier on this month, I decided that I wanted to introduce a monthly favourites post and here it is!

On the last day of each month, I'll be sharing my favourite things to; watch, listen to, read, eat and do!

WATCH

This month I've been loving watching Schitt's Creek on Netflix. I've always been a sucker for sitcoms so when I saw the trailer for this I knew I had to give it a chance. This rapidly turned into binge-watching all five seasons.

One of the things I loved about it is that this highly exaggerated wealthy family are really difficult to relate to initially but as they begin to integrate within their new community, that stops being the case. There's a lot of personal growth!

But also, I think that David Rose might just be one of my all time favourite sitcom characters. He kills me, every single episode.

Since I'm still very much a newbie when it comes to YouTube but I would like to include a favourite channel each month so I'm going to start with our family fave: The Tim Tracker

We check in multiple times a week to catch his videos and often watch together as a family. Even Mini loves watching the Trackers! So it goes without saying really that we were overjoyed for Tim and Jen earlier this month when they announced that they are expecting a baby Tracker!

LISTEN

The musical highlight of the month for me was definitely the release of Parachute's self-titled album. If you're familiar with their discography, this album is exactly what you'd expect: flawlessly executed pop-rock tunes full of emotion.

In the run up to this release, I'd hoped and wished for a song that would be perfect for me to walk down the aisle to at our wedding in October so I was overjoyed with Say You Will. It really is everything I wanted and so much more for such an important moment in my life.

Since I've been enjoying a free trial of Amazon Music Unlimited, I also got a chance to check out the recent Simple Creatures release. How good is How to Live? I think this is my new jam. You can check it out below.

I've never been massively into Blink-182 but I am a huge All Time Low fan. In fact, my first All Time Low show was eleven years ago this month! What. Where did that time even go?

Anyway... So when I first heard that Alex Gaskarth and Mark Hoppus were teaming up for this side project, I wasn't sure what to expect. But honestly it's good, it's really really good. Here's the video for Adrenaline which was my second fave on the EP.

READ

This month I had the pleasure of reading A Murder of Magpies and Last of the Magpies which are the two sequels to Mark Edwards' psychological thriller, The Magpies.

Pile of books and Kindle with glasses

I won't go into detail to avoid spoilers but if you're completely new to the trilogy, it's basically about this young couple who move into a new home and find themselves tormented by their neighbours.

Both were just as thrilling and intense as the original so if you enjoy psychological thrillers then it's worth checking out the series. (Disclaimer: this is not an affiliate link!)

On a lighter note, here are a few of my favourite blog posts from the month:

EAT

After hearing a lot of rave reviews about Costa Coffee's Strawberry Iced Lemonade, I was finally able to try one over the (second) Bank Holiday Weekend!

Since it is refreshingly light and has that lovely strawberry taste to it, it makes a perfect summer drink. It was so good in fact that Matt immediately went back to order one for himself.

I also tucked into the Mac and Cheese while we were at Costa and oh my goodness, it was heaven. Cheesy with a light helping of spinach and just the right amount of crunchy breadcrumbs. It was a big winner in my eyes - yum!

DO

Since May has been so busy for us, I thought that it would be hard to pinpoint my favourite thing to do this month. But actually it was simple: spending time with our loved ones.

This month we have been lucky enough to see pretty much all of our extended family despite everyone living so far away - from us and from each other! It's always lovely to catch up and see people we haven't seen in ages, sometimes even years. There were even a few faces I hadn't seen in close to a decade! Some people even said they hadn't seen me since I was a baby! Crazy stuff!

That's all folks! Thank you so much for checking out the first monthly Favourites post.

And of course, make sure you're following us on Twitter or Instagram to catch all future posts!
