Our Trip to Disneyland Paris: 6 Months To Go!

It feels like everyone is in full on Disney fever at the moment!

So I decided that this was the perfect opportunity to start talking about our upcoming trip and how we're getting on with all things planning with only six months left to go!

First of all, I've got to say: this trip has been a really long time coming.

Matt and I had actually booked to go to Walt Disney World in January 2017 but we ended up cancelling due to pregnancy and concerns about the Zika virus. We spent a lot of time talking about our future plans and ultimately decided that we would go to Disneyland Paris when Mini was two years old which is the time frame we've stuck to.

So we booked this trip towards the end of last year and it's been at the forefront of my mind ever since.

This is partly due to excitement but also partly because there were so many more things that needed to be organised ahead of our departure. Amazingly, we've been really proactive so everything has been paid off now with the exception of our travel to London from Bournemouth and back again as well as our spending money but generally speaking I think we're in a great position.

☆ Itinerary

This is something we haven't been able to put together yet as attraction closures and opening times have yet to be released for our dates which leaves everything reasonably up in the air.

We're going during the Christmas season so obviously there are additional shows and parades that we'll need to factor in closer to the time when the weekly and seasonal schedules are released.

It's all just a waiting game at the moment really.

☆ Planning Notebook

As is the case with all great Disney planners around the world, I have a planning notebook dedicated solely to this one trip.

For our trip to Disneyland Paris, I am using this one which is from the Disney x Comic Relief range from Homesense (TK Maxx).

On the front, it has a Mickey icon along with a fabulous quote from Walt: "it's kind of fun to do the impossible." I love it.

The pages inside are filled with everything that we need to know about Disneyland Paris. It covers all the rides, restaurants, shops and of course, toilets - all broken down by area.

I've been doing extensive research for months now so I'm really hoping that we won't find ourselves overwhelmed at any point.

☆ What I Want To Do

To be completely honest, I'm really looking forward to visiting the Walt Disney Studios Park because I haven't been in there for over a decade and things have changed a lot! I'm hoping to be able to ride Ratatouille and Slinky Dog Zig Zag Spin because both of those seem like my kinda rides.

Another thing I'm looking forward to is eating a lot of sugar cookies. It's been four years since I last had one and I stand by them being the most delicious treat I have ever had.

☆ Priorities

Our biggest priority is to just take the entire trip at our own pace.

I know that some people are very much against this strategy especially when you consider how much it costs to be there but we have a toddler, Matt's dodgy knees and my chronic pain to contend with so I think that it's in our best interests to take breaks whenever we can.

We plan to return to Hotel Cheyenne for Mini's nap every day which will give us an opportunity to relax and warm up a bit before heading back out into the parks.

Mini's first passport arrived this week so the three of us are finally travel document ready! Yay!

Obviously no-one knows what Brexit will mean for travel within the EU yet so there may end up being visas or something that we need to arrange but we'll deal with that if it comes to it.

☆ Goodies

You know how much I love a good Disney Haul so you won't be surprised when I tell you that I've got Mini lots of little goodies for the trip already.

I'll be talking about all these little bits in more detail closer to the time but basically he's got costumes, winter wear, blankets, toys, activity books and more!

Okay so I got a little bit carried away... Can you blame me?

We actually need to buy a bigger suitcase because his adorable Mickey Mouse outfit fills half of our existing case and there is no way that I'm not taking it with us.

I've also been collecting a few bits and pieces for myself which you may have noticed already if you've checked out my hauls. I'm very very excited to be going back to Disneyland Paris.

That's where we're at for now but I'll be back every now and again to share updates so please do keep an eye out for those!
